A Passion Baked Into Every Loaf

Sunrise Bakery & Cafe was founded in 2018 by Maria Santos, a third-generation baker who grew up kneading dough in her grandmother's kitchen in Lisbon. After years of perfecting her craft across Europe and the Pacific Northwest, Maria settled in Portland with one mission: to bring honest, handmade bread to the community.

What started as a tiny storefront with three bread recipes has grown into one of Portland's most beloved bakeries. We still use the same sourdough starter Maria brought from her grandmother's kitchen, and every loaf is shaped by hand.

We source our flour from local mills, our eggs from free-range farms, and our butter from Oregon creameries. Because great baking starts with great ingredients and a whole lot of love.
